Meet Manager Track and Field Results Recording

The HyTek Meet Manager is a software database tool which collates the teams, athletes and results for the carnival. Your role will be to work with others on a network of computers, with Meet Manager, entering the results coming in from the various sites. Once the results are entered (or recorded), they can be scored at the press of a button. This scoring allocates a point score to the individual results which is then added to the cumulative point score for the team.

As a volunteer to record results for the carnival then the following presentations may help preparing for your role.

Each carnival has it's own requirements. Some carnivals will be structured as 1 heat per event which is typically done for scoring purposes. Other carnivals will be ranking more athletes then can typically fit into lanes so it will have multiple heats per event. These are generic guides.

      • "Straight track" with a timing system
The Senior Meet Manager Operator will typically handle this role. They will work closely with the Timing Operators to keep the timing system up-to-date with the changes and also receive the results files once each race has been judged.

Results entry - Remember to put the milli-seconds for time and centimeters for distances. (eg. 12345, 123.45 or 1:23.45 for times. 1298 or 12.98 for distances)

Marshalling via Competitor Number

The idea is that all athletes are allocated a unique number which is written onto their wrist or shoulder. This number identifies them in the database so when they arrive at a site (such as the marshalling area for the track events) they can be put directly into a race and their number recorded in the related heat and lane for an event. This information can then be used in the results room to link the result to the athlete in the race.

Using this method, a specific link would be distributed to the marshalls who would be organising the athletes. The link would then be accessed over a device with internet access such as a mobile phone or tablet.

It is still important to communicate with the timing staff (including the starter and the photo finish operators) that age or year groups have changed as it may signal a change to event number for recording purposes.
